Angella Katatumba at it again! Asked to apologize to South Sudanese.

Angella Katatumba has made quite the name for herself on the Ugandan social scene. From being termed as the radical feminist that doesn’t cook for her husband to apparently insulting the South Sudanese music industry, there’s always something she’s trending for. Although, it’s worth mentioning that she probably won’t ever trend as hard as she did when she claimed she has help to assist her with everything in her household. The misogyny in Ugandans just couldn’t stomach that please! To them it was like “a whole Muganda wife, not cooking for her husband that she should worship?”. That goes to say Ugandans are ever doing the most commenting on people’s lives but oh well, what’s new about that?

Sorry for that sidetrack, just had to get that off my chest; back to Angella Katatumba now! Recently, Katatumba and local Youtuber Wasswa Emma made aggressive comments towards the South Sudanese music industry claiming it was still “backward and unwilling to improve”. Now I’m not one to involve myself in judging people, but I would definitely consider those insults had they been made to me.

South Sudanese musicians Lady Kola and Dynamq demanded a public apology from both Katatumba and Wasswa after hearing of the derogatory comments they made on their country’s music industry. Which is absolutely plausible. So in my opinion, they’re not overreacting even in the slightest of ways.

Wasswa Emma apologized for his comments on his YouTube channel and claimed that he didn’t mean to hurt the musicians of South Sudan with his words.

He went ahead to urge Katatumba to apologize too “before it’s too late”.

I personally can’t say much about the music industry of a nation as young as South Sudan because frankly, I’ve never listened to music from there. What I can say though is being human is hard, being a famous person whose words matter is probably even more stressful because of the unforgiving judgmental public. So that requires for whoever is famous to carefully filter whatever opinions they may have of any topic. Being blunt about it is okay, but there’s also the option of being respectful, and I think that’s a better path to take.
