Mpaka Records boss, Ykee Benda has said he is not aware of Dre Cali’s whereabouts and has not spoken to him in over a month.
Dre Cali is said to have fled Uganda at the height of his legal battles with Wyse Technologies a label he was previously signed to. Wyse accuses Dre Cali of breaching a contract he had with them by signing with Mpaka.
Wyse asked for a compensation of 80M or Dre Cali would face arrest.
According to Ykee Benda, Dre Cali started acting up when these issues cropped up. “ Sometime in January he started absconding from office. I sent him a message and he said he was sick. When we tried to send people to his home, he asked them not to go there and assured us that he would be fine. Few days after that his phone went off. Never again has it been on.”
Ykee says he is shocked at Dre Cali’s behavior as this is not something he expected of him.
“I hear from the news that he is in Canada, but I can’t say it is true or not.”
