UMA Sets New Voting Dates

The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) has announced new dates to vote leaders following the cancellation of the previous elections.

The new dates were announced on Tuesday during a press conference.

“Following guidance from the UMA Policy Board, I have decided to organize the polls in the next two weeks so that the association does not continue any longer without leadership,” Mr. Geoffrey Ekongot, Chairman UMA Electoral Committee told the press

It was revealed that the elections will now be by secret ballot, unlike the previous election that was virtual and unsuccessful.

Members who are not in Kampala will have to travel to National Theatre to cast their votes.

“It was a difficult decision to make considering the financial circumstance of some of our members, but it was the last option available,” Sophie Gombya said on behalf of the policy board.
